Commission Process

Detailed colour pencil pet portrait of a small black and gray dog with long fur and amber eyes, facing forward.

What’s Included?

Each artwork is carefully hand-drawn using professional colour pencils and vellum paper, creating a realistic and expressive portrait.

Your portrait will come with a unique certificate of authenticity and an art care guide, explaining how to look after your new drawing.

Each artwork is gently wrapped in acid-free glassine paper and posted in a secure, recyclable box. UK postage is FREE and worldwide shipping is calculated upon request.

I can offer guidance on the best reference photo to use, and poses for the final piece. I will keep you updated throughout the entire process to make sure you receive a portrait that you love.

The portraits come mounted as standard so they arrive ready to frame and display in your home.

How to Book

Step 1

Contact

Get in touch via the contact page on my website. If you have any questions about the portraits feel free to ask - there is no pressure:

For portrait enquiries, please include the size of the portrait, number of pets, and any timing requirements. If you have a specific date in mind let me know. I will email back confirming the details and request your reference photos.

If you're unsure on any of these details I am happy to help!

Step 2

Photos/Deposit

I usually work from one main reference photo and use others to add details and markings. If you have a photo in mind for the main reference please let me know. There is more information on references below.

A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking via bank transfer - once paid I will give you an estimated wait time. I'll then let you know when I get started on your portrait!

Step 3

Final Checks

I will keep you updated throughout the process, and can send pictures of each stage if you would like to see the progress.

Once the portrait is complete I will send you preview photos so you can check everything. I offer minor adjustments at this stage if any changes are required to ensure you are completely happy with the artwork. I want to make sure your portrait perfectly captures your pet!

Then the remaining 50% payment can be made and the portrait will posted to you.

Reference Photos

A black and tan dachshund laying on a large hay bale in a field, with hay rolls and farm buildings in the background.
A small black and tan dog with a wiry coat, wearing a red collar, standing on a gravel and dirt path, looking up at the camera with a slightly tilted head.
Close-up of a tabby cat lying on the ground, looking into the camera with green eyes, with a blurred street and sidewalk in the background.

I usually create my portraits from one main reference photo and use others to add detail and ensure specific markings are in place.

The best reference photos are usually taken in natural lighting, detailed, and should be the original image rather than a screenshot so the quality is not reduced. In memorial pieces I understand this may not always be possible, and every effort will be made to create the best likeness possible with the photographs available.

I'm happy to help you decide on a photograph if you email me a selection!
